La SOUTERONNE (red wine)

 

Wine made from only old Gamay grapes. Vines: vines are between 60 to 80 years old.

Wine making: Long maceration at a low temperature, without stemming the grapes. Maturing is done on fine lees, in second-hand oak casks. Bottled without being filtered.The SO2 is less than 25mg/l when bottled.

 SYRAH (red wine)

 

Wine made only from Syrah grapes which are from a parcel of land located on the slopes of the Doux river, and also from purchased Syrah grapes.

Vines: vines are about 30 years old. Wine making: Maceration is long and at a  low temperature, without stemming the grapes. Maturing is done on fine lees in second-hand oak casks, and then bottled without being filtered. The SO2 is less than 25mg/l when bottled.

 Viognier/Roussanne (white wine)

 

Wine made from 2 types of grapes Viognier and Roussanne.

Vines: Vines are young about 10 years old.

Wine making: Directly pressed. Maturing is done on fine lees, and then bottled without being filtered. The total SO2 is less than 25mg/l when bottled.

 Sainte Epine (red wine)

 

Wine made only from the Syrah grapes.

Vines: All Saint Epine, Syrah grapes come only from vines which are all over 100 years old.

Wine making: Maceration is long without stemming the grapes at a low temperature. (Jus extaction by mechanical treading). The wine has been left on its lees for one year in second-hand oak casks before being bottled without being filtered. The  total SO2 is less than 25mg/l when bottled.

 

 

The style of this wine has a stamp of terroir with plenty of expression. The tannins are delicate without being aggressive. You can identify the texture of the old vines.

Situation

 

Located on the right bank of the Rhone valley, opposite the Hermitage Hills. This soil has always been recognized as being one of the best areas for wine production, thanks to it’s south-eastern and southern exposure and to the hot climate of the Doux river delta.
